SILC Student Leadership Ambassador Program

About the program

Are you passionate about global languages and cultures? The School of International Letters and Cultures (SILC) is seeking dynamic and motivated students to serve as Student Leadership Ambassadors.

Through this leadership and professional development opportunity, you will inspire others to study languages and explore world cultures while strengthening your own communication and leadership skills. 

Participation includes 1 upper-division credit for SLC 484 (approximately 45 hours per semester).

What you will do

As one of our first SILC Student Leadership Ambassadors, you will collaborate with faculty, staff and other students to:

  • Develop your leadership and teamwork skills
  • Advocate for world language and cultural studies at ASU and beyond
  • Support SILC recruitment, outreach and engagement efforts
  • Expand your professional network through alumni, donor and professional organizations
  • Continue building a vibrant, inclusive language-learning community on campus

Eligibility requirements

  • SILC major, minor or enrolled in a SILC certificate program
  • Completed or enrolled in at least 24 ASU credits at the time of application
  • GPA of at least 2.75 at the time of application
  • One faculty recommender required (have the name ready when applying)
