Post a Question

Hello.

Post your language learning questions to the Slack channels below and receive a reply from a SILC tutor.  (If your language currently has a tutor available.)

You can post text, video, and audio messages for any 101 through 202 language courses offered by the School of International Letters and Cultures.

Once you post a message, you will receive a reply from a tutor no later than 9:00pm on that day, Monday - Saturday.  Please do not hesitate to post any questions on Sundays as well.  A fellow student may be able to answer your question or the tutor will reply on Monday.

The channels are primarily meant for tutor-to-student communication, but if you know the answer to a question posted by a fellow student, please feel free to post an answer.  A tutor may post a follow-up as well.

For those languages that do not currently have a tutor, the channel is for student-to-student communication.  Please post questions and answers for fellow students.

Note that the channels are viewable by all ASU students and instructors.  If you do not feel comfortable posting your question to the open channels, an anonymous message can be sent to a channel by filling out this form.  To view any answers to your question, click on the "Open in Webpage" link that is next to the language you are studying. Please note that tutors will not be able to have an ongoing "conversation" with you via Slack if you choose to be anonymous.

Please do not send a direct message to any of the tutors.

Creation-Of-Procedure Notes:

- For those who do not feel comfortable posting in a public forum, we will create a form that they will use to send their question.  The form will send an anonymous message to the correct Slack channel.  If the question doesn't make sense/doesn't have enough information for the tutor to respond to, the tutor will respond with a "not enough info/please repost the question with this, this, and this info." message.  Students will need to sign into the form with their ASURITE info, for security purposes, but that information will not be sent to the Slack channel.  The form will included text about not being able to carry on ongoing "conversations" with anonymous messages (only the message and one reply).  We would use a drupal form that will send an email to silclss;  from there it would be filtered by language and sent to the correct Slack channel.

They've clicked on the "Click Here to Post a Question" button from https://silc.asu.edu/learning-support-services/tutoring to get to this page.
