Students may compete in German competitions at the novice or intermediate levels. Only one group from each school may be registered at each level; however, there are no restrictions for the group size.

Prepared recitation
The teachers will have the opportunity to choose the readings for their students. Each reading, be it prose or poetry, should be approximately 15 and 20 lines. Each recitation should be no longer than 2 minutes. Students will be evaluated on language assuredness and fluency, pronunciation, level of memorization, and, most importantly, the feeling and emotion with which the text is recited.
Students will be given the role play situations at the Language Fair, then they will have 5 minutes to prepare the role play. Students will decide in advance with whom they wish to work (must be in groups no larger than four people). They will be given a situation to negotiate. They will be evaluated on language assuredness and fluency, pronunciation, and grammar and vocabulary usage. Maximum speaking time is 4 minutes.
Students will prepare a short drama to perform. Student performances should be no longer than 10 minutes and must be memorized. Student performances will be evaluated on language assuredness and fluency, pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary usage, and preparedness.
German Competitions will take place in MU 246 Coconino.
Novice Competition (1st/2nd year)
