Japanese Competitions


Registration for the Japanese Competition is now closed. Thank you to everyone who registered!

Students may compete in two categories: Novice (first year) and Intermediate/Advanced (second year and above).

Novice Competitions (10:00 - 11:00 a.m.) 

Students will compete in prepared recitation. The text, provided by us, will be a short prose or poetry selection that must be memorized and recited with feeling and emotion, not just read by rote. The recitation will be evaluated on language assuredness/fluency, pronunciation, feeling and memorization.

Intermediate and Advanced Competitions (11:05-12:05 a.m.)

Students will also compete in prepared recitation. The text, provided by us, will be a short prose or poetry selection that must be memorized and recited with feeling and emotion, not just read by rote. The recitation will be evaluated on language assuredness/fluency, pronunciation, feeling and memorization.
