Registration for the German Competition is now Closed. Thank you to everyone who registered!
Novice Competition (1st/2nd year)
Prepared recitation (9:25 – 10:25 a.m.): The teachers will have the opportunity to choose the readings for their students. Each reading, be it prose or poetry, should be approximately 15 and 20 lines. It must also be memorized and recited with feeling and emotion, not just read by rote. Each participant must give the judges a copy of what they are to recite prior to their performance. Each recitation should be no longer than 2 minutes. They will be evaluated on language assuredness/fluency, pronunciation, feeling and memorization.
Intermediate Competitions (3rd/4th year)
Impromptu role play situations (10:30 – 11:30 a.m.): Students will decide in advance with whom they wish to work (must be in groups no larger than four people). They will be given a situation to negotiate. They will be evaluated on language assuredness/fluency, pronunciation, and grammar/vocabulary usage.
Prepared drama from a known play (11:35 – 12:35 a.m.): Students will have already prepared a short drama to perform for the judges. They may perform in groups of 3 to 10. Student performances should be no longer than 10 minutes and must be memorized. The group must provide the judges with a copy of the play prior to their performance. Students will be evaluated on language assuredness/fluency, pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary usage, and preparedness.
***Only one group from each school at each level please.
***Unfortunately due to time constraints, each school will only be able to register one group for prepared drama from a known play, and one group for prepared drama created by students.
