2021 Chinese Speech Competition

There are three groups:

9:25 – 10:25: Novice Mid (1st year)

                         Topic: My Favorite Social Media

                          Group Presentation:1-3 minutes /group

                         Each school can register no more than 4 groups for this level and each group should be no more than 3 students to demonstrate a                          presentation/ conversation/role play etc.

                                                    

Students will compete in prepared presentation/conversation/role play etc. on the topic of “My Favorite Social Media”. The presentation can be about, but is not limited to, the following social medias: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, Snapchat, Reddit, Tumblr, WhatsApp, Google Hangouts, GroupMe, Discord, Kik, YouTube, WeChat, Tencent QQ, and Sina Weibo. Students can use power points, poster, or hands on tools to help with the presentation. The script must be recited with feeling and emotion. It will be evaluated on language assuredness / fluency, pronunciation, feeling and memorization. .

 

9:25 – 12:00: Novice High (2nd-3rd year)

                         Topic: The Past, Present and Future of Social Media

                          3-4 minutes/student

                         Each school can register no more than 4 students to present

Students will compete in prepared presentation on the topic of “The Past, Present and Future of Social Media”. Students will give a speech prepared by themselves. In the presentation, students can describe but not limited to one of the following features of social media: 1) how people communicated before there was social media; 2) what people do with social media nowadays; 3) what will be the next major social media development. The speech must be recited with feeling and emotion. The presentation will be evaluated on language assuredness/fluency, pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary usage, feeling and preparedness. Using Power Point / poster / hands on tools are allowed..

 

9:25 – 10:25: Intermediate (3rd year or above)

                         Topic: Social Media Effects on Teens and Community

                          4-5 minutes/student

                         Each school can register no more than 4 students to present

                                                    

Students will compete in prepared presentation on the topic of “Social Media Effects on Teens and Community” In the presentation, students can describe the impact of social media in but not limited to the following areas: relationships, education, health, politics and business. The text, prepared by students, must be recited with feeling and emotion. The presentation will be evaluated on language assuredness/fluency, pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary usage, feeling and memorization. Using Power Point/poster/ hands on tools are allowed..

 

There will be a Q & A session after each presentation where the presenter will be required to answer 1 question by one of the judges regarding to topic he/she presents.

 

※Those who are heritage speakers may not register for any level other than Intermediate. If they do not register at this highest level, their score will be invalidated. International students from mainland China or Taiwan are not eligible to join the competition.
