Biography

Suhara has been teaching Japanese religion and culture courses at University of Pittsburgh, University of Arizona, and Arizona State University. In order to teach Asian ideas in an effective way, he uses comparative methods which explain concepts in an interdisciplinary and transnational manner. He is interested in researching varieties of topics in East Asian religion and philosophy, and is currently working on a phenomenological investigation of Buddhist meditation. His works have been published in the Journal of Buddhist Philosophy, Journal of Japanese Philosophy, and Philosophy East and West. He practices martial arts, plays music, takes astrophotos, and travels a lot.
