- Your academic advisors have a sense of humor! Most importantly, however, your advisors are here to support you, and to advise you on some of the most important academic and non-academic decisions you will make during your time at ASU and in the School of International Letters & Cultures.
- SILC advisors are professionally trained, and provide counsel regarding University, College, and School policies and procedures.
- In addition, your SILC advisors are also available to discuss your academic aspirations, progress toward degree completion, course selection, study abroad and internship opportunities, and to help you with your non-academic needs.
- Please make a habit to check-in with a SILC advisor each semester. While meeting with an advisor each semester is not required, it is a good practice to make sure that you are progressing towards your degree completion.
- SILC advisors are happy to meet with high-school, prospective, transfer, and current students at all times during the year. We hope to see you in our office soon.

Who is my advisor?
Use this table to help you determine which advisor you should see for your academic advising needs. For most advising needs, you are welcome to see the advisor of your choice. However, there are certain majors or programs which require you to see a certain advisor.
All SILC advisors are able to help and advise any student seeking assistance with non-academic issues.
If you are on academic probation, you may see either advisor for your initial visit, but you must stay with the same advisor for the duration of your time on academic probation. If you are unsure of your probationary advisor, please email silcadvising@asu.edu.

How do I contact my advisor?
The best way to contact an academic advisor in SILC is to email the shared email inbox. Both advisors monitor this inbox and you will receive a response within 2 business days.
You may also email the advisor directly. Please be aware that if the advisor is not in the office, you may not receive an immediate response.
Shared Email Inbox (preferred): silcadvising@asu.edu

When is E-mail advising appropriate?
E-mail advising is appropriate for quick questions that do not involve extensive research. If your questions require more time (such as planning a semester of classes), please schedule an appointment with an academic advisor by going to silc.asu.edu. Once here, sign in and select "Make an Appointment".
